England will have an uphill task on the final day of the second Ashes Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval as the English side need 284 runs to win the match with four wickets remaining.

The play is scheduled for 12am GMT. Live coverage of Day 2 will be available on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2 HD.

Matt Prior and Stuart Broad will walk into the crease as they would be looking to hold their ground in order to avoid second straight defeat in the Ashes series down under. The visitors lost six wickets on the fourth day of the match as Australia edge closer to another victory.

England skipper Alastair Cook was struggled facing Mitchell Johnson as the opening batsman was dismissed cheaply by the left-arm fast bowler for the second time in the match. Joe Root (83) and Kevin Pietersen (53) tried to take things in their own hand, but the two were unsuccessful in doing the same.

Australia are four wickets far from taking a 2-0 lead in the Ashes series after registering a crushing win over the English side in the first test. Johnson was the star bowler for Michael Clarke's side in the first innings picking seven wickets while Peter Siddle picked up two crucial wickets, that of Michael Carberry and Pietersen.

Clarke would be hoping to wrap up the match in the first session of the final day. England crossed the total of over 200 for the first time in the series and Root believes the visitors have starting to show off their fighting spirit.

"Obviously so far in this series we've not managed to do that like we pride ourselves on. It's good to get a few guys getting some scores and showing a bit of fight. As a team we know we've been underperforming. That's quite evident with the scores we've got," Root explained.

WIth Australia's current bowling attack, one can only suggest for a draw or England defeat in the Adelaide test. The English side will have a tough task ahead to make a comeback in the series to keep their hope of retaining the Ashes. Meanwhile, should the hosts win the second test, they would be one more win from a famous series victory over their riavls.
