Bethesda Softworks has released the first hour of Arkane Studio's upcoming Prey reboot as a free demo for PS4 and Xbox One. The publisher has also revealed the official minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC version of the upcoming sci-fi thriller ahead of its release next week.

The console-exclusive demo features the optional male or female version of protagonist Morgan Yu during his or her first day on the job on board the Talos 1 space station.

"Morgan Yu is about to have a very bad day," Bethesda said in a release. "Aliens have escaped containment, dead bodies now litter the hallways of the Talos 1 space station, survivors are huddled together for safety, and the Typhon aliens are threatening to destroy everything you hold dear.

"As Morgan, you'll have to fight the invasion in order to save humanity. But it all begins with what should have been a typical first day on the job for Morgan."

For the PC version the minimum specs are listed as an Intel i5-2500 or an AMD FX-8320 with 8GB of RAM and at least a GTX 660 or Radeon 7850 graphics card.

For the best experience, Bethesda recommends having at least an Intel i7-2600K or an AMD FX-8350 processor with 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 970 or an AMD R9 290 card.
