Three British tourists have been arrested after allegedly refusing to pay their fare and attacking a Munich taxi driver.

The men got into the taxi in the Schwanthaler Höhe area of the city on 24 October, according to a police statement.

The group initially asked the 49-year-old Turkish driver to take them to their hotel, but after a short drive told him to stop as they were waiting for a friend, according to the report.

When the group said they no longer needed a ride and got out of the vehicle, the driver pursued them, demanding the €5 fare incurred.

They are then alleged to have attacked and punched the driver, who required hospital treatment for his injuries.

The men were arrested near the scene of the alleged attack and taken to a Munich police station.
