I Want To Kill Her: Mistress of 'American Idol' Alum Caleb Flynn Exposes Shocking Texts in Wife's Murder Trial

The former mistress of 'American Idol' alum Caleb Flynn became emotional while reading their messages in court, including one in which she wrote, 'I want to kill her, Caleb,' before Flynn allegedly replied, 'That makes two of us.'

Alleigha Botner testified about her roughly 18-month affair with Flynn during his murder trial in Miami County, Ohio. Prosecutors presented 34 books containing transcripts of more than 107,000 messages exchanged between the pair, with Botner spending nearly seven hours over two days reading excerpts to the jury.

Mistress Clarifies 'I Want To Kill Her' Text

Botner was asked directly who had written the message, 'I want to kill her, Caleb.'

'Me', she told the court.

She then read Flynn's alleged response: 'That makes two of us.'

Botner subsequently explained that she did not mean she wanted Ashley Flynn dead. In another message from 22 August 2025, she wrote: 'Caleb, I'm not asking that you take her life, obviously, because that's not what you should do.'

Instead, Botner testified that she wanted Flynn to end his marriage and said she was referring to divorce, not killing Ashley.

Flynn Allegedly Discussed Killing Ashley

The messages also included statements allegedly written by Flynn about killing his wife.

According to testimony, Flynn wrote that he had stayed awake until 4:00am 'literally thinking of ways to kill her and not go to jail.' Prosecutors have cited the message as evidence of his alleged thoughts about killing Ashley.

In another exchange, after Botner discussed wanting Flynn to make the divorce happen, Flynn allegedly replied: 'I'll work on getting rid of her. Until then, I love you.'

Botner testified that she always meant divorce when she discussed Flynn leaving Ashley.

She later challenged Flynn over his feelings towards Ashley, writing: 'If you really do hate her, and she knows that, and you want me so much more than her, then say goodbye to her. Forever.'

Flynn Allegedly Wrote 'I Choose You'

The messages also provide a timeline of the relationship shortly before Ashley's death.

According to prosecutors, Flynn told Botner on 15 February 2026 that he would leave his wife the following day. He allegedly wrote: 'I choose you. I'm free. Actions will come tomorrow.'

Ashley was fatally shot at the couple's Tipp City home on 16 February. Prosecutors allege Flynn staged the property to make it appear that an intruder had broken in.

Mistress Questioned Flynn After Wife's Death

Botner also testified about a message she sent Flynn on the morning Ashley was killed.

'Caleb, what's going on? Were you involved? Is this real?' she wrote, according to testimony.

Botner said Flynn did not respond. She later deleted the message because she feared investigators could search his phone and discover their affair.

She also acknowledged that she initially lied to the FBI about the relationship before eventually telling investigators she believed Flynn was responsible for Ashley's death.

Caleb Flynn Denies Murdering His Wife

Flynn has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and witness intimidation. His defence has challenged the prosecution's case and maintained that investigators moved too quickly to accuse him. Flynn has said he was in another room when Ashley was murdered.

The defence has also questioned Botner's credibility, including her initial lies to investigators and deleted messages. Prosecutors, meanwhile, have pointed to the extensive text exchanges as evidence supporting their allegations about Flynn's relationship with Botner and his alleged motive.

The murder weapon has not been recovered, while prosecutors allege Ashley was shot twice in the back of the head and that the crime scene was staged to resemble a burglary.
