Dove Cameron and Cameron Boyce's Close Friendship
Cameron and Boyce became close while filming the Descendants films, and she spoke publicly about their friendship following his death.
In a 2019 tribute, Cameron described Boyce as 'one of my favorite people alive in the world' and called him 'an earth angel'.
'Cameron was always good and kind,' she said. 'He was selfless and generous; he was magnanimous and arguably a true philanthropist at only 20.'
She also addressed Boyce's family while describing the shock of losing him.
'The last 72 hours have felt like two weeks, and I've spent them trying to make my thoughts and feelings into words that might communicate anything about what I'm feeling,' Cameron said. 'I've been unsuccessful... my system is still in shock, and my brain is still foggy and full of holes.'
Seven years later, Cameron continued to remember Boyce publicly. In May 2026, Cameron marked what would have been Boyce's 27th birthday, sharing photos of them together and writing: 'Happy birthday. I love you.'
Cameron Boyce Died In 2019
Boyce died on 6 July 2019 at 20 from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, or SUDEP, after suffering a seizure in his sleep. His family later established the Cameron Boyce Foundation to raise awareness of epilepsy and support causes close to his heart.

Six years after his death, his mother Libby told PEOPLE that the grief remained painful. 'Grief never goes away,' she said. 'He and I had an extremely close relationship, so I know what he would be thinking. I know what he would want me to do.'
Libby said Boyce would have wanted her to keep moving forward despite the loss. 'I know he'd want me to be a badass and go out and do all these things,' she said. 'But, yeah, it's not easy. It's horrific. But you have to go on.'
Dove Cameron and Damiano David's Wedding
More than 200 guests reportedly attended the main wedding celebration. Descendants director Kenny Ortega, who had a close relationship with Boyce, officiated the larger ceremony. Ortega's presence added another link to Cameron's Descendants years. He directed the franchise and had spoken warmly about Boyce and his legacy.
For Cameron, the celebrations brought together her new husband, family, and friends alongside people who remained connected to her Descendants years and her friendship with Boyce.
