'The Light of Our Lives': Chad Lowe's Daughter Fiona Dies at 13 as Heartbroken Family Mourns Beloved Daughter
The family described Fiona as a smart, creative and affectionate teenager who loved dance

Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, have announced the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, describing her as 'the light of our lives' in a statement confirming her passing on 29 September.
Fiona, the couple's second daughter, was remembered as a creative and affectionate teenager whose love of dance was a major part of her life.
The family asked for privacy as they come to terms with Fiona's death, calling the loss devastating for those closest to her. No cause of death has been publicly disclosed.
Their statement also directed people experiencing mental health difficulties towards the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, but the family did not state that Fiona's death was related to suicide.
Fiona Remembered for Her Love of Dance
Fiona was born on 16 November 2012 to Lowe and Painter and was the middle child among their three daughters. She was younger than Mabel, 17, and older than Nixie, 10. Her parents kept much of their children's lives away from the spotlight, although Fiona occasionally appeared with the family at public events.
Dance was particularly important to Fiona. Her father marked her 13th birthday on social media in November 2023 with a tribute celebrating her becoming a teenager and encouraging her to continue pursuing the activity she loved. The post offered a glimpse of the close relationship between father and daughter before her death less than a year later.
A Family Remembering Their Daughter
Lowe and Painter have described Fiona as someone who was cherished not only by her parents but also by her sisters. In their statement, they highlighted her intelligence, creativity and affection for dance while emphasising the place she held within the family.
'We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,' the family's statement, which was shared with Page Six and other outlets, read. 'She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.'
The statement said the loss has left the entire family heartbroken and they have asked for prayers and privacy as they grieve, while also urging anyone struggling with their mental health to seek support through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Community and Relatives Pay Tribute
Fiona's death has also been felt within her school and local community. People close to the teenager described her as quiet, kind and artistic, with dance being one of her strongest passions. Friends and fellow students were reportedly grieving after learning of her death, while those familiar with the family described the community as close-knit.
Her grandfather, Chuck Lowe, also shared a tribute following the announcement. The father of Chad and actor Rob Lowe posted a photograph of Fiona and remembered his granddaughter in a short message. Other figures from the entertainment world have also offered condolences to the Lowe family as they mourn.
Chad Lowe's Final Public Memories of Fiona
Fiona appeared alongside her parents and sisters at the February 2023 premiere of Marvel's 'Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur' at the Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank, California.
Photographs from the event captured the family together on the red carpet, offering one of the more recent public glimpses of Fiona before her father's announcement of her death.
Lowe, 58, is known for roles including Jesse McKenna on 'Life Goes On' and Byron Montgomery on 'Pretty Little Liars'. He and Painter married in 2010 and have three daughters together.
As the family mourns Fiona, they have asked for compassion, prayers and privacy while remembering a teenager they described as deeply loved and an irreplaceable part of their lives.
