Adele impressed fans with her rap skills when she belted out her rendition of Nicki Minaj's Monster verse during her Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show With James Corden – and it looks like the British powerhouse won over the rap queen herself. Minaj has since taken to social media to applaud the Hello hitmaker's sterling effort.

In a post on Instagram the Young Money star wrote: "Pull thru, QUEEN!!!!! #Adele #Monster the attitude & fingers to match. #Oh #Ok #IcoNic I cried when she waved bye to the careers #Hello #BuhBye (sic)"

She also tweeted a response to the performance, telling her 20.4m followers: "Adele is mad ratchet. I can't take her #UK #WutsGood."

Before nailing the notoriously difficult verse from Kanye West's 2010 hit, Adele opened up about her obsession with the Spice Girls and how the group influenced her career. "This isn't a p*sstake, this was genuinely a really big thing," she told Corden. "It was a huge moment in my life when they came out".

The Grammy winner added that her first experience of heartbreak was when Geri left the band in 1998: "It was girl power and there were these five ordinary girls who just did so well. It was a really important time in my life, that." Following the trip down memory lane, the pair launched into a duet of Spice Girls' 1996 megahit Wannabe.

Elsewhere in the skit, she sang her hits Hello, Rolling In The Deep, Someone Like You and All I Ask. Adele is the latest musician to join Corden for a Carpool Karaoke with Jennifer Hudson, One Direction and Stevie Wonder among those to have appeared in the car ride.
