The first look of season seven of US crime comedy Castle is out.

ABC has released the first trailer for season 7 Castle, which centers on the cliffhanger that ended season six.

Fans were stunned by the seemingly tragic event in the finale episode. Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) were about to be married, when Castle was forced into a seemingly fatal car accident on his way to the wedding.

The new trailer includes new footage from season seven, with Beckett, still in her wedding dress, discovering that Castle's remains are nowhere to be found.

Beckett shrieks, "He's not in the car!" as firemen try to put out the flames surrounding the writer's car.

The voiceover says, "On the most important day of their lives, why would the love of her life vanish?" The search for Castle is on.

Castle's new showrunner David Amann recently said that Beckett would be on a mission to get to the bottom of this mystery surrounding Castle's crash.

"She's committed to getting to the bottom of what happened with Castle," Amann told Give Me My Remote. "That's really her focus and her mission. She's going to do that, and she's going to take that as far as she can go to get answers. That's what she's focused on."

The cliffhanger finale disappointed the show's loyal fans, but its new dramatic promo is sure to keep them happy and glued to the show.

Castle season 7 is set to premiere at 10pm on Monday, 29 September on ABC.
