Actor Chris Salvatore Details How OnlyFans Affected Him and Left Him Feeling 'Empty Afterwards'
Financial pressure led him to join the platform in 2021

Chris Salvatore has opened up about stepping back from adult entertainment, saying four years on OnlyFans ultimately made him realise the industry was not suited to him. The actor, singer and model said the decision was driven less by judgement of the profession and more by his changing understanding of intimacy and personal boundaries.
Salvatore discussed the decision in a recent interview with Out. He reflected on how financial pressure initially pushed him towards the platform. He is now turning his attention back towards acting and other creative projects.
From Financial Necessity to an Emotional Toll
The 41-year-old said he joined OnlyFans in 2021, at a difficult point in his life when he needed money for his dog's medical treatment.
'I did OnlyFans for like four years,' he said. 'It's a tough industry. It can wear on you. Over those four years, I've learned that I'm really not meant for it.'
Explaining what prompted him to start, he added: 'Times were tough. My dog needed surgery on his broken leg and I needed cash.'
However, what began as a practical decision eventually became something he found increasingly difficult to reconcile with his personal values.
'There's no judgement on my end, but I needed to take a break. I'm more of a demisexual,' Salvatore said. 'I really honor connection before intimacy, especially now, being in my 40s.'
He also described the demands of filming adult material, saying: 'It was hard to show up on set and just go to town. After I recognized that, it started to affect me quite a bit.'
Feeling Empty
Salvatore stressed that his decision should not be interpreted as criticism of other creators who work successfully in adult entertainment.
'It can be taxing physically and emotionally on different types of people. More power to the ones who are doing amazing at it! ...I would feel empty afterwards,' he said.
His comments come as he seeks roles that allow him to explore different aspects of his acting career. Salvatore became widely recognised for playing Zack in the LGBTQ+ Eating Out film franchise, appearing in several instalments before taking on other screen projects, including Paternity Leave, BearCity 3 and Eastsiders.
His latest film, Scorch Marks, represents a significant change in direction. In the queer apocalyptic horror film, Salvatore plays Joel, the abusive ex-husband whose presence haunts protagonist Beckett after an apparent global catastrophe. The film, written and directed by Brendan Haley, is streaming exclusively on Dekkoo.
Rebuilding Process
Salvatore is also continuing to develop projects outside traditional film and television. In 2025, he released Island Boy, a coffee-table photography book featuring images shot by Lester Villarama in Kauai, Hawaii. His official website describes the book as a 170-page collection containing more than 200 exclusive images.
He has also continued pursuing music and maintains a public presence through his official website and social media channels. His website currently promotes music, including the single Starting Something.
As for his relationship status, Salvatore has generally kept his private romantic life away from the spotlight. For now, Salvatore appears focused on rebuilding his career around projects he finds personally fulfilling, saying, 'this break might not be forever.'
