CMT Music Awards 2016
Erin Andrews and JJ Watt will host the award ceremony CMT Music Awards

The CMT Music Awards 2016 will be held at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena and sportscaster/TV personality Erin Andrews and football superstar JJ Watt will host the glittering evening. The evening honours country music videos and television performances through a fan voting system.

The award ceremony will be telecast live on CMT at 8pm EST. Before that, the red carpet event will kick-start at 6pm EST. Watch the ceremony live online on CMT.

Billy Gardell and Chad Michael Murray, the lead cast of CMT network's upcoming series Million Dollar Quartet, will present the awards along with Chris Janson, Kelsea Ballerini, pop singer Leona Lewis, radio personality Bobby Bones and Cody Alan.

Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett will perform at the star-studded event.

"I'm thrilled to come back to NASHVILLE to co-host the CMT Music Awards. I had so much fun last year, and I can't wait to see what antics J.J. and I will get into together. Plus, there's nothing better than seeing my favourite country artists get recognized for their great work," Andrews said in a press statement ahead of the country music awards ceremony.

Watt hosted the event last year and expressed his love for country music. "Having presented at the CMT Awards last year, I got a first-hand look at the energy and excitement of the event and I am very excited to be involved in a much larger capacity this year as co-host. There are two things that I know about the people of Nashville...they love country music and they know how to throw a party. When you put those two things together, it makes for one heck of a night. I can't wait to host the awards with Erin and be part of such a great night, honoring the biggest stars in country music."
