Pampered pooches across the globe can already have their fur done and be dressed in luxury designer outfits to complement their owners.

But a new fashion buzz has extreme dog-lovers wagging their tails in happiness - doggie nail art, which has taken the US by storm.

From flowers to neon-tinted patterns to glam shades, classy canines can have paws and claws beautified at salons with the help of special polish pens.

Warren London, the creators of the unique Pawdicure Polish Pens which can also be used at home, claims: "Only one layer application is necessary for that great look for your pampered pup."

The water-based and non-toxic coloured pens boast tongue-in-cheek names including Paw-ty In Pink, Smooch The Pooch Purple, Orange You Glad I'm Neon, and Walk In The Park Green.

As well as online tutorial to teach owners how to give their dogs an impressive pedicure, the company's website also features snaps of various pooches after the pen has been applied.

Whether the trend crosses over to the British market remains to be seen.

IBTimes UK has a look at the best snaps that the site has to offer.

Dog genius or barking mad? You decide.
