'Breeders' and 'Interchangeable': Elon Musk's Ex-Wife Makes Explosive Claims in New Documentary

Elon Musk's first wife, Justine Wilson, claims the billionaire referred to the mothers of his children as 'breeders' and viewed them as 'interchangeable' in Alex Gibney's new documentary Musk, which examines his relationships, family and rise to global influence.

Wilson, who was married to Musk from 2000 to 2008, makes the allegations during the nearly four-hour film. According to AFP, which reviewed the documentary, she says: 'The breeders are interchangeable.' Her comments describe what she says was Musk's attitude towards the women who had children with him.

The claims are among several revelations about Musk's relationships and reported desire for a large family in the documentary, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on 8 September.

Justine Musk Recalls Elon Calling Himself the 'Alpha'

Wilson also alleges that Musk told her he was the 'alpha in this relationship' during their first dance at their wedding.

She describes the relationship as one in which she felt diminished and says her experience with Musk taught her the meaning of 'gaslighting.' She also alleges that Musk removed their transgender daughter, Vivian, from his health insurance and never tried to repair their relationship.

Those accounts are Wilson's recollections presented in the documentary and have not been independently established as fact.

Wilson and Musk had six children together, including their son Nevada Alexander, who died in infancy. Musk has 14 publicly known children, according to recent reporting.

Ashley St Clair Describes Musk's 'Legion' of Children

Wilson's comments appear alongside Ashley St Clair's account of Musk's reported desire to have a large family, giving the documentary two former partners' perspectives on his approach to fatherhood.

St Clair, who has a son with Musk, says in the film that he told her they should have a 'legion of children before the civil war.' She also alleges that Musk encouraged her to have more children.

The documentary's portrayal of Musk's views on having children comes against the backdrop of his public comments about declining birth rates. In 2022, Musk wrote on X that he was trying to help address what he called an 'underpopulation crisis,' describing a collapsing birth rate as a major threat to civilisation.

St Clair also says she rejected an alleged $40 million (£29.6 million) non-disclosure agreement after their relationship ended. Musk has denied that she was ever offered such a deal.

Elon Musk Calls the Documentary a 'Hit Piece'

Musk did not participate in Gibney's documentary and has rejected its portrayal of him.

Following the film's premiere, Musk described it as a 'hit piece.' His lawyer, Alex Spiro, also threatened legal action, accusing the filmmakers of approaching the project with a predetermined conclusion.

Gibney has said his team made repeated attempts to get Musk to participate in the documentary.

What Musk Reveals About the Billionaire

Gibney's film goes beyond Wilson's allegations, examining Musk's business career, personal relationships and political influence. It features interviews with Wilson, St Clair, Musk's father Errol Musk, former Tesla CEO Martin Eberhard and other figures connected to his career.

The documentary premiered at Venice on 8 September and is scheduled to open in select US cinemas on 9 October, with a nationwide release on 16 October.
