Empire season 3 will go on a brief hiatus and will return with the rest of episodes on 30 November, at 9pm EST on Fox Network. Episode 7 is titled, What We May Be, where Cookie will plan a dinner party to impress her boyfriend Angelo's mother.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Cookie looks to Candace for tips on how to plan an elaborate family dinner that will impress Angelo's mother, Diane (guest star Phylicia Rashad). Meanwhile, old home videos cause Cookie to face secrets about her relationship with her father that she had tried to hide from her kids, and Andre organizes an unlikely duet.

A promo for the episode shows Jamal getting slammed on TV for damaging his music career after getting shot by Freda Gatz. Jussie Smollett says in the promo video, "Jamal is going through it. So now there's even more to prove. This pushes Jamal over the edge."

Lucious tells Jamal in the video that, "artists that don't perform die, " as he makes a decision and tells his father, "I am coming back!" The episode will also reveal certain secrets about Cookie, related to her father. The promo also shows Cookie's dinner to impress Angelo's mother is ruined by the Lyon family.

Lucious crashes the dinner with wife Anika and introduces Angelo's mother to their dysfunctional family, which involves Jamal high on medicines, Hakeem handling his baby Bella, and Lucious doing everything he can to make things awkward for Cookie and Angelo.

In other news, Nia Long has joined the cast of Empire season 3 and she will be play a queen pin who runs a club in Las Vegas. Her character the show is described as follows, "Long will play Giuliana (Giusi), a queenpin who runs a club in Las Vegas and makes brash moves in the gangster underworld of New York to secure a deal with Empire. Sleek, sexy, and cold-blooded, she rubs elbows with Lucious (Terrence Howard) and goes toe-to-toe with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) even as she reckons with her own mysterious past.
