Kaliningrad cop Ephraim Izmailov allegedly raped women to infect them with the deadly HIV viruus

An "evil" police officer with HIV raped women after using his police badge to win his victims' trust, it was alleged.

Ephraim Izmailov, 35, prowled the streets of Kaliningrad in western Russia in his car, carrying out at least nine alleged attacks over a 10 year period.

Women targeted by the alleged rapist were offered a lift home, with Izmailov flashing his police ID to put them at ease. Soon afterwards, he propositioned them for sex and when they refused he attacked them.

When the rape was over. Izmailov reportedly told some victims of his HIV status and that they were now infected too.

A friend of one victims branded the former police officer "an evil, evil man".

"My friend was walking home when he pulled over and asked her if she'd like a lift. He told her he was a policeman and even showed her his ID," said Nikita Zaitseva.

"Thinking that he was genuine and honest she got in and he then drove her to a deserted part of the city and raped her.

"He then dumped her on the ground and told her he had HIV and she now did too."

Izmailov was exposed in an internal investigation by police. A spokesman for the constabulary said: "He has shown no remorse whatsoever.

"We have had nine women come forward so far but we suspect there are many, many more. We are appealing for anyone who was attacked by this man to come forward."
