Jeffrey Epstein's New Mexico Ranch Sold to Trump Republican, Hasn't Been Searched Amid Controversy
The New Mexico estate, once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, remains unsearched, raising questions about potential hidden evidence

The sprawling New Mexico desert property previously owned by convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein has long held secrets that federal investigators seemingly failed to uncover. The infamous property, dubbed Zorro Ranch, reportedly passed into new hands years after he died, reigniting a firestorm of debate regarding the lack of a thorough forensic search at the site.
Donald Huffines, a prominent Trump-aligned Republican and former Texas state senator, purchased the property four years after Epstein's passing through his firm, Cypress River Ranch LLC. Many are still questioning why it hasn't been searched despite the property being one of Epstein's alleged locations for abuse.
How Don Huffines Bought the New Mexico Estate
Epstein's New Mexico ranch was reportedly put up for auction years after Epstein died. 'Four years after Mr Epstein's death, the Huffines family purchased property in New Mexico listed at public auction whose proceeds benefited his victims. Prior to the auction listing, they had never visited the property,' said Huffines' campaign spokesperson Allen on Friday.
According to Aaron Parnas, a lawyer and TikTok personality, Huffines purchased the property in 2023 for $13.4 million (£10.2 million). However, the pressing question remains why, despite being mentioned in the Epstein case, the authorities haven't searched it. 'To this day, a search of the premises has not been conducted by federal or state authorities. There is a push to make that change now,' Parnas said.
The absence of a comprehensive federal search continues to haunt those seeking justice for the victims, with lingering concerns that evidence may have been lost during the years of legal limbo. Huffines is currently running for Texas comptroller.
The 7,500-Acre Desert Fortress
Known colloquially as the Zorro Ranch, the estate is situated in Stanley, near Santa Fe, and was designed to be entirely self-sufficient. The 7,500-acre property is home to Epstein's 26,900-square-foot mansion and has its own private airstrip, a place where Epstein could operate far from the prying eyes of the public.
Epstein spoke about the massive property in an interview with Vanity Fair, saying it was so spacious that it made his 40-room estate in Manhattan 'look like a shack'. He purchased the New Mexico ranch from Gov Bruce King in 1993, transforming it into a high-security compound where many of his reported abuses were kept hidden.
The sheer scale of the ranch meant that any superficial walkthrough by authorities would have been insufficient. It remains a mystery why a location of this magnitude was not subjected to the same forensic intensity as Epstein's Manhattan townhouse.
Annie Farmer: 'You Were Really in the Middle of Nowhere'
The reality of what occurred within these walls was brought to light through the harrowing testimony of Annie Farmer. During the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, Farmer detailed a 1996 visit to the ranch when she was only 16, describing how Maxwell and Epstein subjected her to a 'nude massage', which served as a gateway to further abuse.
In a 2025 interview with Wbur, Farmer said it was easy for people to question why she didn't just run away. However, for her, the 'safest thing' to do was to distance herself from Epstein and Maxwell and lock herself in a room. 'I think they don't understand so much about trauma, but also even about the geography of this ranch. You were really in the middle of nowhere,' she said.
The testimony provided a rare glimpse into the ranch's internal dynamics during its most active years.
Epstein did not face any criminal charges in New Mexico despite his misconduct in the state, after pleading guilty to child prostitution in Florida in 2008. Hector Balderas, the New Mexico attorney general at the time of Epstein's arrest in 2019, had begun investigating the property. Since Epstein's case remains open, the property may be searched thoroughly soon.
