After becoming engaged to Frenchman Denis Skinner, Lynch decided that picking the wedding date involved more than just checking which weekends were free.

The actress consulted a Vedic astrologer, who advised her to avoid holding the ceremony during a solar eclipse.

Lynch admitted that she could understand the reasoning, joking that she had seen plenty of dramatic events unfold around eclipses.

The couple initially hoped to marry on 22 August, partly because Lynch liked the significance of double numbers, which are associated in spiritual circles with so-called 'angel numbers'.

However, there was one practical obstacle: their preferred venue, Wilton's Music Hall, was already booked on the 22nd. So 21 August became the date. Although the couple did not get their first choice, Lynch has spoken warmly about how the wedding ultimately came together.

An Unconventional Romance in Camden

Lynch's relationship with Skinner began in an unconventional fashion. She first noticed him working behind the bar at a tropical-themed venue in Camden in 2021. Lynch recalled being fascinated by the bartender's unusual appearance, describing him as a 'strange elvish creature' and a 'total fantasy'.

She was so intrigued that she kept returning to the bar and even tried flirting with his dog in an attempt to get closer to its owner. Eventually, a friend intervened and Skinner gave Lynch his telephone number.

The couple became engaged in 2023 after an emotional argument about the seriousness of their relationship. Skinner subsequently arranged a more conventional proposal, decorating Lynch's cousin's allotment with fairy lights and asking her to marry him.

It was a fitting setting for a woman who spent years portraying one of the 'Harry Potter' franchise's most eccentric characters.

The couple eventually married in London, with 20 close family members and friends attending their ceremony at Islington Town Hall. The celebration later continued at Wilton's Music Hall, a historic Grade II* listed venue that Lynch felt suited their personalities.

'I'm really big on polka dots,' the actress revealed, explaining one of the influences behind her bridal look. Her final ensemble included a vintage cloud-like skirt, a structured corset and a pearl-dotted veil.

The result was a look Lynch herself jokingly compared to a 'sugarplum fairy'. Her husband also chose a distinctive style, wearing green corduroy tailoring rather than the purple velvet suit he had initially considered.

A Very Luna Lovegood Approach To Love

The wedding's details did not stop at astrology and fashion. Lynch revealed that she had once asked her cousin, who she describes as a witch, to perform a love spell when she was single. She later discovered that the ritual was actually centred around marrying herself.

Years later, Lynch told the story on stage, explaining how her romantic journey eventually led her to Skinner. The couple also involved their dog, Malo, in the wedding, while Lynch's cat Puff was described as her 'actual soulmate'.

Their first dance was another compromise between their personalities. Lynch wanted poetry and folk music, while Skinner preferred techno. They eventually chose Graham Nash's 'Our House', a song Lynch said was particularly meaningful because of its focus on home.
