Fallout 4's first expansion, Automatron, launches next week (Tuesday 22 March). Bethesda announced the DLC in a trailer showing off the the robot-crafting goodness. The update will cost £7.99, or is included in the game's season pass.

Automatron's official synopsis, reads: "The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions.

"Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armour, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customise their paint schemes and choose their voices!"

In February Bethesda announced the first three expansions coming to Fallout 4. Automatron will be followed by Wasteland Workshop in April and Far Harbour - the largest and priciest expansion - in May. More expansions will be announced following that, probably at Bethesda's E3 press conference on 12 June.

Bethesda will also supplement the enormous, and enormously popular post-apocalyptic RPG with free updates. Some updates will tweak the game's performance while others introduce new modes and features, such as the tougher difficulty of Survival Mode or the Creation Kit, which allow PC users to more easily create mods for the game, and also allow Bethesda to bring those mods to PS4 and Xbox One users.
