Rockstar Games has revealed new details about the Grand Theft Auto VI radio stations, but a rainy Vice City screenshot has also captured fans' attention.

The image has prompted questions about whether its striking reflections and detailed surroundings represent genuine gameplay.

The announcement appeared on the game's official website on Thursday, 8 October 2026. Rockstar outlined several radio stations and their musical styles ahead of the game's scheduled release on 19 November 2026.

The update offers more than a glimpse of the soundtrack. It also gives players another look at the fictional world of Vice City, where wet streets, neon lights and passing traffic create a detailed nighttime scene.

The GTA 6 Screenshot That Has Fans Looking Closer

The screenshot depicts a busy street at night, with vehicles and pedestrians moving through the rain. Reflections across the wet road and pavement contribute to the image's realistic appearance.

The image was included alongside Rockstar's radio announcement. Kotaku examined the screenshot on 8 October and reported that its visual quality prompted questions about whether it could represent ordinary console gameplay. The publication also discussed technical details that might offer clues about how the image was captured.

Some social media users questioned whether the image was genuine. However, individual reactions don't establish whether a screenshot is authentic, edited, or captured using specialised development tools.

Rockstar's official announcement confirmed new information about the game's music. Its promotional material also includes previews of selected stations through the official Grand Theft Auto VI website.

The radio lineup covers multiple genres, including modern Latin music, country, African music, metal and pop. For example, Flash FM features Robyn and Alex Consani, while The Chamber focuses on metal. These details give players a clearer idea of the musical variety planned for the game.

The screenshot has drawn attention because it raises a separate question from the radio announcement: how closely does the promotional image reflect what players will see in-game?

Can the New GTA 6 Image Be Confirmed as In-Game Footage?

Digital Foundry's Oliver Mackenzie discussed the image after GTA content creator Ben VideoTech tagged him. As reported by Kotaku, his assessment considered whether the screenshot might have been captured using a development build or specialised tools.

One possibility is that developers used settings designed to produce a particularly clean promotional image. Such tools can allow developers to capture specific scenes under controlled conditions. However, the available discussion does not conclusively establish that this happened with the Vice City screenshot.

Kotaku also highlighted apparent visual imperfections in the image. These included dithering in distant reflections, missing shadows beneath some pedestrians and figures that appeared to have less detailed models.

Dithering is a visual technique in computer graphics that approximates colours or shading. Its appearance can vary with rendering methods and image processing. Nevertheless, identifying this effect in a screenshot does not establish which hardware produced it.

Similarly, missing shadows or simplified distant figures may reflect limitations in a game's rendering system. They cannot independently prove that the image was captured directly from a running console.

The distinction matters because promotional screenshots can be captured under conditions that differ from ordinary gameplay. Developers may adjust camera positions, lighting, resolution or other settings when preparing images for marketing. That possibility doesn't mean a screenshot is fake, but neither does a realistic appearance prove it is an unaltered gameplay capture.

Rockstar has previously released footage that it explicitly described as captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. Its August 2026 presentation of Grand Theft Auto VI was one example. That provides a documented precedent for using in-game footage in promotional material, although it does not confirm the production method behind this particular screenshot.

The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. Until Rockstar provides further information about the image, claims about a PS5 Pro development kit or specific graphical settings should remain unconfirmed.

For now, the screenshot offers an impressive look at Vice City's rainy streets, while the radio announcement provides new information about the game's musical atmosphere. Whether the image captures a typical gameplay moment or a carefully prepared shot remains unclear.
