How A 2021 'Sex Game' Led To The Cold-Blooded Killing Of Nicholas Billingham
Killer teacher hid Nicholas Billingham's body as his mum visited

The courtroom has heard a harrowing account of the final moments of Nicholas Billingham. While the prosecution details a deliberate and fatal attack, the defence suggests the incident was a tragic accident during an intimate encounter. This trial now seeks to uncover the truth behind a case that has shocked the local community.
A grieving mother confessed to sharing a drink with the person who took her child's life, despite his remains being just a short distance from where they sat. Witnesses spotted the duo socialising and enjoying themselves while her beloved boy was actually buried beneath the lawn of his own property.
After admitting she killed Nicholas Bellingham, 42, best known as Nick, during a 'sex game' in 2021, 50-year-old Fiona Beal confessed to the fatal stabbing. To hide the crime, she hid his remains under the earth at the Northampton property they lived in together.
The Decoy and the Sentence
Following his final sighting that November, Fiona faced allegations regarding his passing and appeared in court to answer for the crime. She eventually received a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of the killing.
As the ex-primary school teacher starts her twenty-year sentence for the homicide, the victim's mother, Yvonne Valentine, has opened up about sharing beverages with her child's murderer. Nick's mum described socialising with Fiona while his body was actually hidden beneath the earth.

Speaking in a fresh ITV documentary, Yvonne explained she had no idea her beloved child was buried only a few steps from where she stood. Around three weeks following the couple's supposed 'break-up', she went to Fiona's house on 23 December 2021 to drop off festive gifts, noting that the atmosphere felt completely ordinary.
'I wouldn't say there were any concerns,' she recalled. 'I drove round and she just seemed the same as she usually did; gave me a hug, said "come in and have a drink."'

'I walked into the living room and I said "Oh, you been decorating?" and she said "yeah, I have." And I said "oh it looks okay, quite good". So she said "yeah."'
She acknowledged being totally unaware of Nick's death during their hour-long encounter just before Christmas. Yvonne remembered a friendly vibe during their time together, marked by plenty of affectionate gestures. 'Little did I know that my son was buried in the ground a few feet away,' she said. 'I still can't get my head round it.'
Digital Deception
The mother was led to believe that following his split from Beal, Nick had relocated to Essex to start a life with someone named 'Faye.' In reality, this new partner was Fiona herself, who had taken control of the victim's mobile to pose as him through texts after she had already committed the murder.
Investigators finally reconstructed Nick's last minutes, during which he engaged in a 'sex game' with his companion that ended with Beal piercing his throat. She subsequently hid the corpse by placing it beneath a narrow patch of lawn at their residence, where the remains became partly mummified.
A Family Left Bereft
The mother described her total devastation upon hearing about the killing, stating: 'Nick wasn't perfect, I don't know who is, but why would you put somebody through what Beal put him through? There's just no answer.'

'I still think that Nick's going to come and walk through the front door one day and say "hello mum." But it's not going to happen, is it?'
In April 2024, Beal confessed to the killing at the Old Bailey and received a two-decade prison sentence. While passing judgment, the magistrate shared words written by Nick after a period of infidelity, where he praised the defendant as 'the most beautiful woman in the world' and vowed he would never 'belittle' her again.
