James Arthur cancels concert due to health reasons that could 'risk long-term damage'

2012 X Factor winner James Arthur has had to cancel his Nottingham gig, leaving fans disappointed by the last-minute change. Arthur described himself as 'heartbroken' over the decision but said he was forced to cancel due to health reasons.
Now, fans are wondering if the singer's Glasgow show went ahead despite the setback. Here's everything you need to know about the cancellation and the Glasgow concert.
James Arthur Cancelled Nottingham Gig
The 37-year-old singer-songwriter was set to kick off the UK leg of his The Pisces World Tour in Nottingham on 3 February. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Arthur was forced to cancel it due to health reasons that could cause long-term damage.
The British singer has described himself as 'heartbroken' by the decision but promised fans that the concert would be rescheduled.
In a statement posted by Nottingham Motorpoint Arena, where the concert was supposed to happen, Arthur said, 'I am absolutely heartbroken to postpone this show but if I was to sing through this particular illness, I risk long-term damage.'
He added, 'It's also so important to me to give you the best version of me on stage and a show you deserve.'
Arthur apologised to his fans, saying, 'I am incredibly sorry for any inconvenience, this is the last thing I wanted to do, thank you for all the love and support, and I promise I will make it up to you as soon as I can. Love JA xx.'
He also explained that the Nottingham show was simply 'too soon for the meds to bring my voice back.'
A post from Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena added, 'Fans should hang on to their tickets and details of a rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible.'
They also noted that anyone unable to attend the new date will be entitled to a refund.
Further details, including the date of Arthur's rescheduled Nottingham concert, have yet to be announced.
Fans Left Disappointed by the Sudden Cancellation
Fans are left disappointed by the last-minute cancellation. One commented on Facebook: 'Health comes 1st but he knew his voice was struggling 2/3 days ago it's not fair to cancel on the day ppl will be already making there way to a different town/city to see him they should of said this before the actual day off the show !!'
This was echoed by another one saying, 'Can you possibly give a little more notice as some people are unable to change the hotels once it's passed 24 hour notice. I know it's hard to judge but if you're taking the week off people can plan ahead.'
The disappointment also crossed X, one said, 'Disgusting. Paid hundreds for travel, hotel, dog kennels and he's fine to do tomorrow's show!' Another fan said, 'Surprise surprise seek to cancel at short notice quite often.'
Despite the disappointment that Arthur received from fans, many understood Arthur's situation and wished him to get well soon, citing that health comes first.
Did the Glasgow Gig Happen?
For those wondering whether Arthur recovered in time, he did — and the Glasgow concert went ahead as planned.
Before the show, the singer made an announcement on his Instagram Story, saying, 'For those of you asking about Glasgow tomorrow, it will definitely be going ahead. Tonight was just too soon for the meds to bring my voice back. By tomorrow evening I would've had two and a half days recovery from the infection I caught this past weekend.'
Arthur successfully returned to the stage at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow last night, 4 February, following the Nottingham concert setback.
Many fans were eager to see if the singer had fully recovered, and fortunately, he appeared to be back in strong form, delivering the full high-energy set he had planned. The show ran on schedule, ending around 10:15pm, and was a complete sell-out.
