A viral clip of Australian actor Josh Heuston sitting beside Japanese actor Sho Hirano has divided viewers, with some criticising his apparent manspreading while others question whether he did anything wrong or intended to make Hirano uncomfortable.

The footage was filmed at the Louis Vuitton Men's Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week on 23 June 2026. It shows Heuston sitting with his legs apart, leaving Hirano with less room beside him. Heuston also appears to gesture across the space in front of Hirano, prompting some viewers to argue that his movements were more bothersome than his leg position.

The clip has sparked a large Reddit discussion, with thousands of votes and hundreds of comments debating whether Heuston's posture was inconsiderate, whether it should be described as manspreading and, crucially, whether there is any evidence he did it deliberately.

Josh Heuston's 'Manspreading' Moment With Sho Hirano

Some viewers focused on the amount of space Heuston appeared to occupy while seated beside Hirano.

One Reddit commenter wrote: 'He's taking up a little more leg space here yeah, but what i think is more bothersome is he's gesturing into the Japanese person's space'.

Another commenter described Heuston as 'oblivious and obnoxious', arguing that he appeared comfortable taking up as much room as he wanted despite the cramped seating arrangement.

The footage itself does not establish what Heuston was thinking or whether he was aware that Hirano appeared to have less space.

Some Viewers Question the Etiquette

The Reddit post sharing the footage framed the incident as a clash over Japanese etiquette and claimed some Japanese fans had criticised Heuston's posture. It also suggested he may have known Hirano would not challenge him.

However, other commenters rejected that interpretation and questioned whether the posture should be labelled manspreading at all.

One viewer asked: 'This is manspreading? His legs are no wider than his shoulders. Isn't that just....sitting?'.

The commenter also argued that Hirano could have asked Heuston to make more room if he was uncomfortable, highlighting the disagreement over whether the footage shows genuinely poor etiquette.

Fans Push Back: 'He Didn't Do It on Purpose'

The strongest pushback centred on the suggestion that Heuston deliberately spread his legs because Hirano would supposedly remain quiet.

One commenter called that theory 'so preposterous', arguing that people were projecting intentions onto others.

Others similarly questioned whether Heuston intended any disrespect. One commenter said they 'strongly doubt' it was intentional, suggesting a lack of awareness was more likely.

Another viewer also said they did not think Heuston had acted deliberately, although they criticised him for appearing unaware of Hirano and the limited space available.

Others Say It Is About Basic Consideration

The debate has therefore gone beyond whether the posture qualifies as manspreading.

Some viewers argued that the issue was simply whether Heuston was being considerate of the person sitting beside him, particularly given his apparent gestures into Hirano's space.

Others maintained that his posture looked ordinary and that there was no basis for assigning deliberate intent to the moment.

While some commenters criticised Heuston's apparent use of space, others rejected the idea that he intentionally acted that way to disrespect Hirano.

The footage and Reddit discussion do not establish that Heuston deliberately intended to make Hirano uncomfortable.
