Police booked Kendra Duggar on child endangerment charges on 20 March, two days after her husband Joseph Duggar's arrest.

Joseph Duggar's child molestation charge prompted authorities to inspect his home by default, which led to Kendra Duggar's arrest, a source to Us Magazine stated. Tontitown Police Department confirmed that Kendra and Joseph's charges are completely unrelated.

Authorities booked Kendra after finding signs of child endangerment in their Arkansas residence. 'Apparently, they had two rooms where the lock of the doorknob was on the outside instead of inside,' the source explained. 'They arrested her and took her kids for that, saying it's evidence that she wrongly detains her kids.'

Kendra Duggar Charged with Child Endangerment

Charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second‑degree false imprisonment, Kendra Duggar was detained on Friday afternoon in Fayetteville's Washington County Detention Centre. She was held for less than two hours before being released, after police processed her charges.

Kendra's arrest followed her husband's, Joseph Duggar's, who faces more serious allegations of molestation of a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious conduct. Authorities state the incident allegedly occurred during a 2020 family vacation in Florida.

A 14‑year‑old girl later told law enforcement that Joseph had molested her several times while she was 9, claims that Joseph admitted to investigators and to the victim's father.

19 Kids and Counting served as Joseph and Kendra Duggar's introduction to the public, showcasing them within their large Christian fundamentalist family. The series not only documented their daily lives but also amplified the family's emphasis on religious devotion and ideals of purity to a wide audience.

The Duggar Family's First Scandal

Premiering in September 2008, '19 Kids and Counting' aired on TLC for seven years and ten seasons. The show was cancelled in July 2015 after the family's reality drama took a dark turn. Reports surfaced that Josh Duggar, Joseph's brother and the family's eldest son, had molested several young girls when he was about 15 years old.

The Duggar family allegedly knew about the incidents for more than ten years before addressing them in public. Advertisers withdrew support in the fallout. In 2022, Josh Duggar was sentenced to about 12 years in prison after being convicted of receiving child pornography.

Duggar Relative Responds to Kendra's Arrest

Joseph and Josh's cousin, Amy Duggar Kind, has released a statement following Kendra's arrest. 'I am not going to rush to conclusions about what Kendra knew, when she knew it, or what her role was in any of this,' the Los Angeles Times reported.

'That is the job of law enforcement and the courts, and I trust that process to unfold. What I will say is this: the moment a person faces criminal charges for the endangerment of children, my prayers shift. They shift entirely and without apology to the children,' she added.

'To the four children in that home — I see you. I pray for you. None of this is your fault, and none of this is your burden to carry.' Amy Duggar also addressed the girl Joseph Duggar allegedly molested.

'To the original victim, who is now fourteen years old and has watched this story explode across every screen in the country: I am so deeply sorry,' she said. 'You did an incredibly brave thing by coming forward. You deserve to have every institution around you work on your behalf — not to protect the people who hurt you, and not to protect the image of a family. You. I am still praying for you and your family above all else.'
