Legends of Tomorrow
Legends of Tomorrow will return with new episodes on 31 March The CW

DC's time-travel series Legends of Tomorrow is well into its first season but details of the finale episode and the season 2 plot have already cropped up. The CW recently renewed The Flash-Arrow spin-off series, thereby paving the way for more adventures.

According to a TVLine report, Legends season 1 finale episode airing on 19 May will introduce a "beloved superhero from the DC canon" whose mysterious agenda will serve as "a launching off point for Season 2".

Legends of Tomorrow follows a team of heroes led by Rip Hunter, who are trying to hunt down an immortal enemy called Vandal Savage. Rip works with a ragtag team of divergent talents, which includes Sara Lance aka White Canary, Jay Jackson and Martin Stein aka Firestorm, Ray Palmer aka Atom, Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl, Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold and his partner Mick Rory aka Heat Wave.

The report also states that season 2 of the show will feature new people. A producer recently told the website: "Our team for Season 2, if not in the [physical] makeup of the team, will be changed in the way that [the characters] will be different [people]."

This can mean two things: Rip, Leonard, Sara and others could have changed as people because of their adventures during season 1, or the Network is looking for a fresh cast to replace some characters. However, the report confirmed that "wholesale cast change is not at all in the cards".

Legends of Tomorrow is currently on a hiatus and will return with all-new episodes on 31 March at 8pm EST on The CW.
