Jaden Smith says his choice of fashion is a way to express himself Reuters

American rapper and actor Jaden Smith is the new face of Louis Vuitton's women's spring-summer 2016 campaign. The 17-year-old son of Will and Jada Smith is seen wearing a dress in photos shared by the creative director of the French fashion house.

Nicolas Ghesquiere wrote on Twitter: "Happy to introduce Jaden Smith in the new SS16 Louis Vuitton ad campaign."

He posted some images from a photo shoot of Jaden – who has worn dresses earlier as well – on Instagram, introducing him as the face of the campaign.

Photographed by Bruce Weber, Jaden is seen wearing a knee-length black skirt and a net white top from the high-end luxury brand's collection debuted at the Paris fashion week last year. A black leather jacket completes his look in the photo. Three female models also feature alongside Jaden.

Users commented on the photo saying that they would be interested in knowing the motivation behind his choice to model for womenswear by Louis Vuitton. Some said they loved Smith's outlook on life, while a few others said he looked "wicked".

Smith had earlier spoken about his motivation for wearing dresses which is a way of expressing "how he feels". He wore one to high school prom in May 2015. It was an ensemble of a calf-length white skirt, a long black top, a black jacket, black sneakers and skinny black leggings.

"I'm just expressing how I feel inside, which is really no particular way because everyday it changes how I feel about the world and myself, but I like wearing super drapey things so I can feel as though I'm a super hero, but don't have to necessarily wear super hero costumes everyday," the actor said in an interview with GQ.
