Louisiana Woman Accused of Using Fake Social Security Numbers to Collect Nearly $45K From 18 Casino Jackpots

A Louisiana woman allegedly returned to the same Baton Rouge casino nearly two years after investigators say she tried to claim a jackpot using a false Social Security number, only to be recognised by a state police investigator and arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Shamika Brown, 43, of Alexandria, was arrested on 21 September 2026 after allegedly returning to L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge to collect a $1,264 jackpot she had attempted to claim in 2024.

16 Jackpots in 2020

Investigators allege Brown used falsified Social Security numbers to collect 16 separate jackpots at L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge in 2020. The winnings totalled more than $41,000, according to state police. Investigators said the alleged use of false numbers was intended to circumvent an overdue child support obligation involving the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

The investigation also identified another alleged jackpot claim in 2023. Police said Brown collected nearly $2,500 at another Baton Rouge casino that year while using false identifying information. The reported 2020 and 2023 winnings together account for nearly $45,000.

The Claim That Triggered the Investigation

The case came under scrutiny in October 2024 when Brown allegedly attempted to collect a $1,264 jackpot at L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge. According to Louisiana State Police, she provided additional false Social Security numbers while trying to receive the money.

Casino personnel flagged the information and notified the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division. Detectives then investigated the 2024 incident and examined Brown's earlier jackpot claims. An arrest warrant was later obtained through the 19th Judicial District Court, according to state police. The $1,264 jackpot remained unpaid.

Brown Returned Nearly Two Years Later

On 21 September 2026, Brown allegedly returned to L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge to collect the same jackpot. An LSP Gaming Enforcement investigator recognised her at the casino, police said. Brown was arrested on the outstanding warrant and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The arrest marked the latest development in an investigation that began with the casino's report in 2024.

What Police Say About the Alleged Scheme

The central allegation is that Brown supplied falsified Social Security numbers when attempting to collect casino winnings. State police also linked the alleged conduct to an overdue child support obligation. That explanation comes from investigators and is not presented as an independently established finding about Brown's motive.

Casino jackpot claims can involve identification and tax-reporting requirements. The Internal Revenue Service says certain gambling winnings must be reported using Form W-2G, which includes the winner's taxpayer identification number. The identification requirements are relevant to the allegations because investigators say Brown repeatedly supplied false Social Security numbers when attempting to receive winnings.

Brown has been accused, not convicted. The charges remain allegations, and any determination of criminal liability will be made through the court process.
