Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer Nani in a player-plus-cash deal to land Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan this summer.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Red Devils are keen to sign the Argentina international, who is valued at around £22m and will offer the Portuguese winger as part of the deal.

Louis van Gaal has already begun his spending spree by signing Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, and it is believed that the Dutch manager is keen to sign the Argentinean after having him watched by scouts earlier in the season.

Nani, who spent the entire 2014/15 campaign on loan at Sporting Lisbon, is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford despite having three years left on his current deal with the club. The Portuguese international has been quite impressive in the Primiera Liga and could interest Benfica, who are looking to balance their books by selling some of their top stars.

Gaitan has been impressive for Benfica in the 2014/15 campaign, as he contributed 16 assists and four goals in all competitions to help the club to a league and cup double.

Apart from United, Premier League rivals Liverpool are also said to be interested in signing the midfielder as Brendan Rodgers looks to make up for a disappointing campaign, but reports suggest that the Red Devils have won the race for the midfielder ahead of the Merseyside club.

Meanwhile, former United striker Andy Ritchie believes that James Wilson should be sent out on loan next season to gain regular first-team experience in the Championship.

"He's got pace and he can score goals - he's done that throughout his career so far," Ritchie told United's official site.

"The one thing I think he needs now is to get some experience. Is it better for him to get that at a Championship club and get a season under his belt of good football? I think the Championship is a really tough league. After a season in the Championship, he would come back to United with a different perspective," the ex-United forward added.
