Manchester United are reportedly confident of securing deals in signing Southampton defender Luke Shaw and Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus in the summer.

According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils are keen on acquiring the services of the Saints left-back as a long-term replacement for United defender Patrice Evra. The France international's contract at Old Trafford comes to an end by season end and he has not yet signed a new deal.

David Moyes' future at the club beyond this season remains doubtful after United's disastrous campaign. Despite that the Red Devils are looking to sign Shaw this summer.

Chelsea have long been interested in signing the Southampton defender. However, Shaw is concerned about first team opportunities, especially after Cesar Azpilicueta's impressive performance for the west London club this season.

In addition to this, Jose Mourinho is likely to hand Ashley Cole a one-year extension at Stamford Bridge. United are confident of giving Shaw a place in the starting line-up. He has been exceptional for Southampton and has started in 31 league games so far this season.

Meanwhile, the same report also indicates that United have sent their scouts to watch Reus in action during Dortmund's 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena. United believe the German international could quit the Bundesliga outfit and are persuading him to make a switch to Old Trafford.

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp's future at Signal Iduna Park remains uncertain. In addition to this, the imminent departure of Robert Lewandowski to follow Mario Gotze to Bayern will see the German club invest in rebuilding the squad.

The situation could see Dortmund allowing Reus to join United in order to raise funds to bring in new faces to the club. United vice-chairman Ed Woodward is looking to complete at least one signing before the summer World Cup in Brazil kick starts in June.

Should the report be true, the addition of Shaw and Reus is likely to bolster United's squad for the next campaign. Meanwhile, United midfield target Ilkay Gundogan has committed his future to Dortmund signing a new deal which will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until 2016.
