Donald Trump Is Decompensating in Real Time During Bizarre Truth Social Spree, Niece Mary Trump Claims

Mary Trump has criticised US President Donald Trump's mental fitness following a series of AI-generated images posted on Truth Social on Sunday, 6 September 2026.

Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist and longtime critic of her uncle, made the claim on X, renewing her call for the 25th Amendment to be invoked against him.

Her post came hours after Trump shared images depicting himself trading stocks from the Resolute Desk, posting a concept for next-generation Space Force uniforms that he said was inspired by Starship Troopers, and superimposing his own profile onto a map of Iran.

Mary Trump has spent years warning that her uncle's mental fitness was deteriorating, a claim she first raised publicly in January 2021 when she described him as 'unstable' and said he needed to be removed immediately.

She has since repeated the warning at various points during his second term, framing his social media output as evidence of a broader decline rather than isolated eccentricity.

What Trump Posted During the Truth Social Spree

The image Mary Trump highlighted was an altered map of Iran, shown with north at the bottom and reshaped into a silhouette resembling Trump's profile. 'Donald is decompensating in real time, just look at the insanity he's posted on social media today,' she wrote, attaching a screenshot of the image.

She went further in the same post, arguing that 'by refusing to invoke the 25th Amendment, Republicans prove once again that they are willing to ignore the Constitution to protect him at our expense.'

Trump also posted a concept image for 'next generation' Space Force uniforms on Truth Social. The accompanying text described the design as 'inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Trooper uniform' and 'modernised for the guardians of the space domain'.

The design, a charcoal jacket paired with a peaked cap, black boots and belt, drew comparisons online to the Imperial officers of Star Wars.

The Starship Troopers reference has prompted online discussion because director Paul Verhoeven has described the film as a satire of fascism. The 1997 film was intended to satirise fascist ideology, with Verhoeven describing its characters as 'fascists who aren't aware of their fascism'.

Other Trump Critics Also Called for the 25th Amendment To Be Invoked

Democrat-aligned influencer Harry Sisson catalogued the posts chronologically before concluding, 'this man is unwell, 25th Amendment now.'

The account Call to Activism asked pointedly what the 25th Amendment was for 'if not this', while Republicans Against Trump declared the president was 'absolutely losing it.' Their comments were political opinions rather than part of any formal 25th Amendment process.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet, or another body established by Congress by law, to declare that the president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office. The vice president would then assume the powers and duties as acting president.

If the president disputes that declaration, the vice president and Cabinet majority can reaffirm their position, after which Congress must decide the issue. A two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate is required for the vice president to continue serving as acting president.

No formal Section 4 process has been publicly announced.
