MAXWELL DEAL SHOCKER — Epstein Accomplice Ready to Spill Secrets If Trump Grants Clemency
House is furious as Maxwell demands pardon in exchange for Epstein secrets

Epstein's known associate and former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent during Monday's House Oversight Committee deposition. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for child sex trafficking and is serving 20 years in prison.
During the deposition, Attorney David Oscar Markus, who is representing Ghislaine Maxwell, said Maxwell is ready to lay out the details related to the Epstein files should President Donald Trump agree to grant her clemency. Markus also posted the same statement on X (formerly Twitter.)
According to Markus, 'Only she can provide the complete account. Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters. For example, both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing.' He added, 'Ms. Maxwell alone can explain why, and the public is entitled to that explanation.'
What Clemency Could Mean for Maxwell
Maxwell has so far refused to address questions from the House lawmakers, but has made it clear to offer her testimony in exchange for being granted clemency by US President Donald Trump. She claims she could clear both Bill Clinton and Trump's names in relation to the Jeffrey Epstein case, per Fox 9.
New Mexico Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury said Maxwell's intention of getting a clemency was explicitly apparent. Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna wrote in a social media post, 'NO CLEMENCY. You comply or face punishment. You deserve JUSTICE for what you did you monster.'

I will exonerate President Trump from any wrongdoing related to Epstein on the condition that he grants me a presidential pardon. pic.twitter.com/CdtVoRbV09
If granted, clemency would not exonerate Maxwell but may postpone her sentencing albeit only temporarily. It can commute her sentence, which could reduce prison time significantly, or grant her pardon, which could potentially delete her criminal record. It will not, however, overturn her conviction or declare her innocent.
Invoking Her Fifth Amendment Right
Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyer, David Oscar Markus, advised Maxwell to remain silent amid her ongoing efforts to appeal her 2021 conviction. Markus said his client is 'prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump.' In effect, when pressed for comment on what she knew about Jeffrey Epstein's illicit activities, Maxwell remained silent, but said to the lawmakers that both former US President Bill Clinton and US President Donald Trump were innocent of any crime.
James Corner, House Oversight Chairman who subpoenaed Maxwell on 23 July 2025 while she was serving her prison sentence, expressed his disappointment in Maxwell's deposition. He told The Independent in a report that immunity was on the table, but the committee decided against it following discussions with survivors of Epstein's crimes. Corner said in the report, 'This was something new today, obviously that's not for me to decide, that's for the president to decide.'

President Trump has yet to express any interest in granting Maxwell a pardon despite previously acknowledging his ability to do so. Speaker Mike Johnson said to the publication Monday evening on Maxwell testifying if granted clemency, 'Look, I think she has an obligation to tell the truth. I just think it's unconscionable that she's pleading the Fifth or trying to make deals. She needs to tell the truth. It's long overdue, and I think it would be good for her to do that. She's already sentenced to prison.'
In a statement issued on Monday, Markus said, 'If this Committee and the American public truly want to hear the unfiltered truth about what happened, there is a straightforward path. Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump.'
His statement also said, 'Only she can provide the complete account. Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters. For example, both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing. Ms. Maxwell alone can explain why, and the public is entitled to that explanation.'
