The handset will use the same specifications as the original HTC One M8, but will house all those components in a plastic body instead of an aluminium one. Owing to this, this variant is expected to be significantly cheaper. It appears as though HTC is hoping that it will appeal to consumers at slightly lower price segments.

Cheaper Than Samsung Galaxy S5

BGR cites a report which says that this plastic flagship smartphone from HTC is intended to compete directly against the plastic Samsung Galaxy S5. Apparently, it will arrive with a price tag that is significantly cheaper than its South Korean rival flagship phone.

While HTC hasn't offered any information on when the handset will be launched, Taiwanese website ePrice believes that the device will be available in the region starting on June 3. The handset is expected to be priced at $480 in China.

Here is a recap of the specifications of the original HTC One (M8), all of which are expected to arrive in the HTC One (M8) Ace.

The handset houses a Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.3 GHz processor along with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. There's a dual camera on the rear with Dual LED and a 5 MP camera in the front. It has a Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, spread across 5-inches with a pixel density of 441 ppi. The handset comes pre-loaded with Android KitKat 4.4.2 with the company's Sense UI.
