Eight months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, Luke Daley has again drawn attention following a reported Pima County jail booking. Daley, 37, was detained and questioned during the investigation in February. He was later released without new charges arising from that operation.

The latest booking does not represent a confirmed breakthrough in the Nancy case. Authorities have not publicly linked it to her disappearance or identified Daley as a suspect.

Nancy, 84, is the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. She was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on 31 January and was reported missing the following day. Authorities believe she was taken against her will.

The FBI later released surveillance footage showing a masked, armed individual outside Guthrie's home. The agency said the person appeared to tamper with a front-door camera and appealed for information that could identify the individual.

Nancy Guthrie Case Drew Attention to Daley in February

Daley was detained on 13 February during a law-enforcement operation in Tucson, about two weeks after Nancy disappeared. His vehicle was searched and towed, while his mother was also detained as investigators searched their home.

Both were subsequently released without new charges arising from that operation.

Daley addressed the incident in a March interview with Arizona's Family and denied having anything to do with Nancy's disappearance.

'It's not me. I don't see the resemblance of it looking like me,' Daley said when discussing comparisons between himself and the masked individual.

He added: 'But absolutely not. I've nothing to do with this case. Nothing to do with it.'

Later in the interview, Daley criticised the online speculation surrounding his name and argued that people had drawn conclusions without evidence.

His latest reported booking has renewed attention because of that earlier detention. However, the publicly reported booking information does not establish a connection between the new matter and Nancy's disappearance.

Reports and social-media posts have circulated claims about possible drug and weapons allegations. However, the specific charges were not identified in the booking information cited by published reports.

Those allegations therefore should not be treated as confirmed.

A jail booking also does not establish guilt. More importantly for the Nancy investigation, authorities have not announced that Daley is accused of involvement in her disappearance.

Nancy Guthrie Investigation Remains Unresolved

The search for Nancy remains active eight months after she vanished. The FBI continues to list her as missing and has appealed for information that could help investigators locate her.

Authorities have also examined several ransom communications connected to the case.

In July, investigators released two messages that had been sent in February, hoping members of the public might recognise the wording or provide information about the person responsible.

A separate, more recent purported ransom message was later deemed not credible by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Officials also warned about possible scams attempting to exploit public interest in Nancy's disappearance.

The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million (£751,000) reward for information leading to Nancy's return. The reward is part of the continuing effort to generate leads as the investigation stretches into another month.

Despite the intensive search and repeated developments, authorities have not announced an arrest in connection with Nancy's disappearance. The masked individual recorded outside her home has also not been publicly identified.

He was questioned earlier in the investigation, but investigators released him without new charges from that operation. His appearance in a later Pima County booking record does not, by itself, establish any connection to Nancy's disappearance.

The confirmed development is narrower. Daley, a man previously detained and questioned during the investigation, has appeared in a new county jail booking record months later.

Authorities have not publicly announced that the booking is related to Nancy, and her disappearance remains unresolved.
