Unidentified gunmen have beheaded one man and abducted another after storming Mgbuitanwo, a local government area in Nigeria's Rivers state. The beheaded man was identified as Mr. Ukeoma, 28, the Vanguard newspaper reported.

The identity of the abducted person is still unknown. Mgbuitanwo is the home town of senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Andrew Uchendu.

It is not yet clear who is behind the murder and the abduction. Kidnappings for ransom are common in Rivers state.
