Olivia Rodrigo is facing a fresh wave of online criticism after making headlines about her love life. Critics argued that her dating status should be the last thing in the spotlight while vendors from her Daisy Chains Festival claim they are still waiting to be paid.

The singer's personal life became a flashpoint on social media, with critics accusing her publicity team of shifting attention towards romance while allegations surrounding payments to festival vendors continue to circulate. Some commenters urged Rodrigo to address the claims directly, with one bluntly telling the star: 'Nobody cares about your love life — go pay your vendors.'

Olivia Rodrigo Describes Invasive Dating Scrutiny

In the Hollywood Reporter interview, Rodrigo told the publication that speculation about her relationships had become increasingly invasive, particularly when photographs from casual dates were used to draw conclusions about her character.

The singer, who said she was single, described the difficulty of having ordinary encounters treated as public relationship announcements.

'It's so hard and kind of sad, especially because relationships are supposed to be something private,' Rodrigo told the publication. 'I feel like every time I go on a casual date with a guy, there's a picture of it on the internet, which feels really invasive.'

She said she tried to retain a sense of who she was despite the attention.

'But I know who I am, and I know what my values are, and I try to just hold on to it at the end of the day. I wish that I could be 23 years old and experience life normally.'

'Nobody Cares About Your Love Life Girl'

On social media, some users criticised Rodrigo for discussing her romantic life while controversy surrounding the Daisy Chains Festival continued to circulate. Critics accused her public relations team of shifting attention towards her relationship status rather than addressing claims from vendors who said they had not been paid. One user called the publicity strategy 'so sneaky', while another wrote: 'Nobody cares about your love life girl GO PAY YOUR VENDORS.'

Others took a harsher view of the singer, with one commenter describing her as a 'whiny spoiled little brat' and claiming she should accept the scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity. Another accused Rodrigo's team of publishing 'PR articles' to counter criticism, adding: 'Use that money and pay your vendors.'

Not everyone agreed with the backlash, however. Some users urged Rodrigo to ignore the online noise and focus on addressing the situation directly, arguing that celebrities inevitably attract clickbait and intense public scrutiny. The mixed reactions highlight the growing debate over whether discussion of Rodrigo's private life is distracting from the separate claims surrounding the festival controversy.

Daisy Chain Fields Festival Vendors Describe Financial Losses

Daisy Chain Fields, the music festival Rodrigo founded, took place at Great Park in Irvine, California, on 29 August 2026. Performers included Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage and Bikini Kill, with a special appearance from Stevie Nicks.

The festival announced that it had raised $10 million (£7.6 million) for organisations supporting women and girls. A matching pledge from Melinda French Gates brought the combined announced amount to $20 million (£15.2 million).

However, participating businesses have since raised concerns about fees, communication and working conditions.

According to Paste, Ugly Oats Kitchen owner Mary Chacon said her business's vendor agreement included approximately $1,400 (£1,064) in fees and a provision under which DLS Events would receive 35% of sales. She also described delays in receiving information and difficult conditions at the event.

Por Suerte Cookies separately described spending thousands of dollars preparing for the festival before experiencing disappointing sales.

'We barely sold anything. I took a significant financial loss,' the business wrote in a post quoted by Paste.

The accounts describe distinct complaints: Ugly Oats Kitchen reported losses and operational difficulties, while Por Suerte Cookies said payment remained outstanding.

Por Suerte Cookies Reports Outstanding Payment

Paste reported on 7 October that Por Suerte Cookies had said it was 'still waiting to be paid'.

'After everything we spent to participate, we have still not received what we are owed for the event,' the business wrote in the Instagram post quoted by the publication.

Paste said Rodrigo, the festival and DLS Events had not publicly responded to the complaints at the time its report was published. The report did not independently establish the amount owed or the contractual payment deadline.

The vendors' accounts concern the festival's commercial arrangements and event operations. The reporting reviewed does not establish that Rodrigo personally handled vendor payments or was personally involved in any alleged payment delay.
