Styles by Name, Style by Nature: One Direction Star Wins British Fashion Award

He is already one fifth of the world's biggest boyband, and now Harry Styles can add style icon to his list of accomplishments.

The 19-year-old heartthrob has received the coveted British Style Award at the 2013 British Fashion Awards and looks set to become the next Alexa Chung.

According to the British public, The Story Of My Life hitmaker, who is regularly spotted sitting in the front row at fashion shows, is currently the best-dressed celebrity in the UK.

He beat off fierce competition from the likes of David Beckham, Kate Moss, the Duchess of Cambridge and his former flame Cara Delevingne after conquering the world of fashion this year.

Styles was presented the prestigious accolade, which celebrates "an individual who most embodies the spirit of British fashion and is an international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital," by his predecessor and three-time winner Chung, who was taken off this year's shortlist.

"I actually didn't think anyone was allowed to win apart from Alexa," Styles said when he took to the stage to accept his award.

Styles choose a smart, yet causal, ensemble which included a sheer black shirt, skinny jeans and a tailored blazer for the star-studded event.

"Harry took pride of place between Primrose Hill queen and award recipient Kate Moss and designer Donatella Versace. All eyes were on him as he worked the room with air kisses for the great and good of the fashion world," an insider told the MailOnline.

"His popularity is clearly not limited to teenage girls as fashionistas flocked to have their picture taken with him."

Other big winners on the night included Christopher Kane, who was named designer of the year and Kate Moss, who was honoured with the Special Recognition Award for her 25-year career and continued influence on the fashion industry.
