Sombra is here. The latest Overwatch hero has been added in an update now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. As well as the new hacker character, the update adds an Arcade mode and a brand new map.

The update 1.5 patch introduces a new wintry map called Ecopoint: Antartica, Arcade mode, the new home for Brawl which houses alternative game types and new 1-on-1 and 3-on-3 modes. Blizzard has also tweaked character stats to even the playing field.

Described as "one of the world's most notorious hackers," Sombra is a cybernetically-enhanced super-spy and "master manipulator" that can hack and temporarily disable enemies' abilities, health packs and Torbjörn's turret.

She can also become temporarily invisible using her Thermoptic Camo, teleport, and unleash an ultimate ability called EMP, which disables any enemy barriers and shields, as well as hacking any enemies caught in the blast's range.

New map Ecopoint: Antarctica is tied climatologist character Mei's backstory and will house multiple game modes including a 3-vs-3 battle and 1-on-1 duel.

Developer Blizzard has also made some changes to the popular shooter's skill rating system for the impending third season of Competitive Play, as well where players will be placed more broadly across the skill tiers.

"When season 2 started, we had more players in the Gold and Platinum skill tiers than we originally intended," the developer explained. "This meant that skill levels varied widely for players within those tiers, and some players were achieving inappropriately high rankings during their placement matches.

"For season 3, skill ratings will be slightly lower after your placement matches, allowing them to increase as the season begins. After you play enough matches, your skill rating changes will return to normal." Competitive Play's third season will kick off on 30 November.

For example, sniper and healer Ana's nanoboost ability will no longer be able to increase a player's speed. D Va's mech health has been bumped up to 200 from 100 while her armour will remain at 400.

Pharah's Jump Jets will now lift her 35% higher, essentially allowing her to fly indefinitely. Soldier 76's Pulse Rifle damage-per-bullet has been bumped up from 17 to 20 with the maximum bullet spread increased from 2.2 to 2.4. All hero ultimate abilities will also take 25% longer to charge as well.
