Pebble smartwatch
Pebble will be taking on giants Apple and Google with its latest round-faced

Pebble has launched its first circular smartwatch to take on rivals Apple and Google in the wearables market. Pebble Time Round, is available in two band sizes and the watchmaker has claimed it is sleeker, thinner and lighter considering its 7.5mm thin and weighs just 28 grams.

According to IDC, the company launched its all-metal smartwatch on Sunday 27 September and the round-faced dial is available for pre-ordering on Pebble's website, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon. Pebble is targeting both men and women buyers and is offering the product in 20mm and 14mm band sizes.

Pebble Time Round comes with a variety of options including leather straps and metal bands in gold or black. The smartwatch has been priced at $249 (£197) and can go up to $299. Its bezel is 38.5mm in size, while its actual dial face is smaller. But this does negate the overall design of the watch.

The watch has a 64-color display with backlight and comes with voice control feature that can be synced with Android phones. The company is also working on syncing the device with Apple's iOS. However, unlike previous Pebble watches, the Time Round is not water resistant, it is only splash resistant.

Pebble's earlier models with its lightweight OS and e-ink display ensured battery life of seven to 10 days, but the latest watch has a battery life of just two days. However, the watch-maker has claimed that with a single 15-minute charge, the battery would last for an entire day.

The Pebble Time Round will be available in UK stores later this year and in EU stores by early 2016.
