Smartphones have made it easier than ever to capture everyday moments, but many of those photos rarely make it beyond a camera roll. Pexar is looking to change that with its latest digital photo frame, the VivKeep Pro 12.5", giving users a larger canvas for displaying family portraits, travel memories and other favourite photographs around the home.

The new frame features a 12.5-inch 2K touchscreen with a 2120 × 1590 resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Pexar says the photo-native display is designed to show more of an image with less cropping and fewer black bars, particularly for photos captured in formats that suit the display.

A Larger Display Built Around Photos

The VivKeep Pro 12.5" is designed around the idea that a digital photo frame should make photographs the focus rather than simply placing a screen inside a traditional frame.

Its 12.5-inch display delivers 3.4 million pixels and 212 pixels per inch, while Pexar lists 100% sRGB colour coverage, 400-nit brightness, a 1600:1 contrast ratio and a 170-degree IPS viewing angle. The company also says the display undergoes professional colour calibration.

The 4:3 aspect ratio is one of the frame's most notable features. Rather than using a conventional widescreen 16:9 panel, the VivKeep Pro 12.5" is designed to accommodate photographs in a more natural format. Pexar says this helps reduce the amount of cropping and black space when displaying photos.

The touchscreen is covered by etched anti-glare glass and an anti-fingerprint coating. A built-in light sensor can also automatically adjust the screen's brightness according to the surrounding environment, while auto-rotation allows the frame to switch between portrait and landscape orientation.

Share Photos From Anywhere

VivKeep Pro

The VivKeep Pro 12.5" uses the Frameo app for wireless photo sharing. Once connected, users can send photographs from their phones to the frame, while family members and friends can also be invited to contribute photos.

The system supports features including captions and reactions, allowing people to add text or emojis to shared memories and respond to photos with a heart. Pexar says photos can also be sent to multiple frames with a single tap.

Setup is designed to be straightforward: users connect the frame to Wi-Fi, scan a code to link it, and can then begin sending and receiving photos through the app. Importantly, the frame does not need to remain connected to Wi-Fi to display photographs already stored on it. Wi-Fi is required when synchronising new photos.

That means the frame can continue functioning as a standalone display even when an internet connection is unavailable.

64GB of Built-In Storage

Another focus of the VivKeep Pro 12.5" is local storage.

The frame comes with 64GB of built-in storage, which Pexar estimates can accommodate up to 120,000 photos based on an assumed 400KB file size. Users can also expand the available storage with an SD card or USB flash drive, although these are sold separately.

Photos can be transferred through the Frameo app or through physical storage. The frame supports USB-A and USB-C flash drives, while USB-C can also be used to connect the frame to a computer for photo transfers. Pexar notes that only one external storage method can be used at a time.

For households with years of photographs spread across phones, computers and memory cards, this gives the VivKeep Pro 12.5" a more flexible approach to managing a personal photo collection.

A Digital Photo Frame That Can Double as a Calendar

Pexar has also given the VivKeep Pro 12.5" some functionality beyond displaying photographs.

The frame can switch between Digital Photo Frame Mode and Smart Calendar Mode. Through Frameo, its calendar feature can synchronise with services including iCloud, Google, Outlook and Yahoo, giving users the option to display upcoming schedules alongside their photographs.

Other convenience features include a clock, four-day weather forecast and configurable sleep schedules. The screen can be programmed to automatically wake or sleep at selected times, which can help keep it from running unnecessarily throughout the day and night.

The frame also has a built-in speaker and supports photo formats including JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC, as well as MP4 and 3GP video files.

Designed for the Home

The VivKeep Pro 12.5" has a Soft Gold finish intended to make it look more like a piece of home décor than a conventional piece of consumer electronics.

It can be positioned around the home as a dedicated photo display, whether that means keeping family photographs on a living-room sideboard, displaying travel memories on a desk or using it as a rotating collection of photographs in a bedroom or hallway.

The frame requires a power connection to operate and does not contain a built-in battery, so it is designed for a fixed position rather than portable use.

Price and Availability

The Pexar VivKeep Pro 12.5" is listed at £229.99 on Pexar's website. The company also lists the product as supporting Wi-Fi, SD cards, USB storage and USB-C data transfer, while the frame itself comes with 64GB of storage.

Pexar has positioned the VivKeep Pro 12.5" as its larger photo-focused option, sitting above the company's VivKeep Pro 11" in its current product range. The 12.5-inch model combines the larger display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 64GB storage, while the company's 15.6-inch Starlight model takes a different 16:9 approach.

The VivKeep Pro 12.5" is available through Pexar's online store.

Bringing More Memories Into View

VivKeep Pro

With smartphone cameras producing thousands of photographs that often remain hidden inside digital galleries, products such as the Pexar VivKeep Pro 12.5" are taking a different approach to photo storage: putting those memories somewhere people can actually see them.

The combination of a 12.5-inch 2K display, photo-friendly 4:3 format, anti-glare touchscreen, 64GB of local storage and Frameo-based sharing gives the new frame a broader role than simply cycling through a folder of pictures.

For families and individuals looking to turn their growing digital photo collections into something more visible around the home, the VivKeep Pro 12.5" offers a dedicated display designed specifically for that purpose.
