Edward and Belle
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starred as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in Twilight Temple Hill Entertainment

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart not only won hearts with their on-screen pairing as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, but also became a fan-favourite celebrity couple. However, in a recent interview, 26-year-old actress admitted that her Twilight years weren't her best as she fought with "anxiety" while filming her high-grossing vampire saga with former boyfriend Pattinson.

Speaking to T magazine, the Cafe Society actress admitted to struggling with, what she describes as "debilitating physical anxiety" throughout her "teens and into her early 20s".

Considering the time period, fans will note that it was the same time when Stewart was shooting for the Twilight Saga with her co-star and then boyfriend Pattinson.

Fortunately for the Panic Room star, she has successfully conquered her anxiety pangs as she claimed that the fame-driven attention "is no longer negative or fear-based." Stewart then went on to explain the reason behind her self-confidence. "I do think that's because of the storms I have weathered. It's not that they make you stronger or calloused — but they do make you a human," she said.

During the interview, Stewart also addressed her past romance with the 30-year-old English actor. "People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product. It wasn't real life anymore," she told the magazine adding that this factor was the reason why her true "showman" impulse was not reflected during the "Twilight years".

Stewart is clearly moving past her anxious years and a failed romance with Pattinson as she welcomed love once again in the form of girlfriend Alicia Cargile. Although the Twilight star adorably admired her "cute" girlfriend, she also insisted on protecting her "personal life".

"I still want to protect my personal life, but I don't want to seem like I'm protecting the idea, so that does sort of feel like I owe something to people," she asserted.
