Scottish singer/DJ Calvin Harris reportedly encouraged girlfriend American singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, to apologise to Nicki Minaj.

On 22 July, the Red singer and the 32-year-old rapper exchanged comments on the microblogging platform regarding the MTV Video Music Awards.

Later, the Blank Space singer apologised to the Anaconda singer.

"Calvin encouraged Taylor to reach out to Nicki and publicly apologize to her on Twitter," a source told Hollywood Life. "He could tell the whole spat was really upsetting her and knew she would feel better if she made peace."

"Calvin is a pretty mellow, even-keeled guy and has a way of always being there for Taylor when she feels stressed," the insider added. "He knows Taylor doesn't function well with high drama, and convinced her to nip the chaos in the bud by resolving the issue with Nicki. [It's] one of the many reasons why Taylor is completely smitten with Calvin."

Reports that Harris and Swift are dating started in March, and the two were pictured shopping in Nashville, dressed similarly.

Later, the two were spotted at a Kenny Chesney concert, getting cosy in the audience.

The couple made their relationship public when Swift kissed Harris during the Billboard Music Awards 2015, held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on 17 May.

Recently, during an interview with KISS FM UK, the 31-year-old DJ opened up about his relationship with the 25-year-old Shake It Off singer.

"It's going absolutely fantastic," Harris said. "It's interesting, because obviously there's different things written about it every day and even if we don't do anything publicly for a while, someone will make something up."
