A murder investigation has been launched and one man arrested after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death in a broad daylight attack in west London. Officers were called at about 3.55pm on Monday (15 August) to reports of an injured man in a residential area in Hayes.

The victim was found collapsed in Gledwood Gardens, at the junction with Gledwood Drive, and was treated at the scene.

Paramedics battled for about 45 minutes to save his life before he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the victim was initially attacked at a house in Gledwood Gardens before staggering a short distance down the road.

Another 18-year-old man, known to the victim, was arrested a short distance away on suspicion on murder and remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, from the Met Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "I would ask anyone who has information that could assist this investigation to contact the incident room. We are especially keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Gledwood Gardens shortly before 16:00 hours and witnessed the assault to come forward."
