Greenville Home Invasion Update: Third Suspect Arrested in February 11 Attack as All Now Face Face Sexual Assault Charges

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a Greenville, North Carolina home invasion that left a resident seriously injured and hospitalised. According to Pitt County Sheriff's Office news, three men now face multiple felony charges, including kidnapping and sexual assault charges, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon.

The violent incident unfolded in the early hours of 11 February at a home on Louis Street in the Cherry Oaks neighbourhood. Deputies responding to emergency calls described a scene of brutal violence inside the residence.

Investigators say the suspects forcibly entered the home and attacked the occupant, who was later transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities have not released the victim's identity or provided updates on their condition.

While officials have not revealed exactly how the suspects were identified, they confirmed that detectives moved quickly in the days following the incident to locate and arrest those believed to be involved.

Who Has Been Arrested?

He joins 20-year-old Jonathan David Garcia-Lario, reported to be homeless, and 21-year-old Zaid Mayen of Chapel Hill, both of whom were taken into custody earlier in the investigation. All three men have been identified as illegal immigrants arrested in connection with the case.

All three face charges of first-degree forcible sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or cause serious injury. The charges underline the severity of the alleged crimes. As with all criminal proceedings, the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Federal Immigration Detainers Filed

Following the arrests of Garcia-Lario and Mayen, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged detainers against both men. ICE detainers request that local authorities notify federal agents before releasing an individual from custody.

Reports indicate that both men are in the United States unlawfully. Calderon's immigration status has not been publicly confirmed and remains under investigation.
