Alvaro Morata has quashed rumours that he could be about to leave Real Madrid by declaring that he is happy with his current role under manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a loan move to Premier League leaders Arsenal earlier this week and despite Arsene Wenger distancing himself from such reports, rumours have continued to emerge linking the striker with a move to north London.

Arsenal's bitter rivals Tottenham were also linked with a possible offer for Morata but it seems the striker is prepared to remain at the club in order to try and feature more regularly in the first team this season.

"I'm happy here and I feel that the coach, Zidane and all of the technical staff have a lot of confidence in me. I'm still only 21 and I want to continue with Madrid for a long time," Morata told AS.

"Every player always wants to play and the boss has shown that he has faith in me - he has brought me on during difficult games and I am happy to have been able to repay him for the trust he has demonstrated in my abilities."

Morata has already appeared in ten league games this season and has scored two goals, but there was a suggestion that he would be looking for a chance to become a regular starter.

With Arsenal lacking strikers his name was repeatedly mentioned, while Tottenham's lack of goals this season meant that numerous publications had reported that they would make a permanent offer in January.

Tottenham were believed to have tried to sign Morata as part of the deal that saw Gareth Bale move to Real Madrid but it seems they will have to look elsewhere if Andre Villas-Boas truly feels he needs to sign another forward in the New Year.

Morata was asked whether he would consider a loan spell away from Madrid but made it clear that his immediate plans are to help the Spanish giants achieve success this season.

"That's a matter for my agent," Morata explained. "I am very happy where I am and I hope to spend many more years with Madrid. Right now, the team is amazing and I think we are currently one of the most dangerous sides in Europe.

"Every team that plays against Madrid knows it too. We are focused solely on ourselves; you can really see how the team has improved, let's hope we can continue to evolve and get even better."
