A police constable is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed while on duty in Tower Hamlets Getty

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an on-duty police officer was stabbed in the stomach in Tower Hamlets. The police constable is in a serious but stable condition after he was attacked while responding to reports of anti-social behaviour and a moped being ridden near to flats at Bunsen House, off Grove Road in Bow.

Two officers attended the scene and a male police constable was stabbed in a car park near to Bunsen House at around 11:30pm on 14 November. A knife was recovered from the scene and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

Nobody else has been arrested in connection with the incident or the earlier anti-social behaviour. Metropolitan Police added they do not believe the incident was linked to extremism or terrorist activity.
