Travis Kelce did not correct a podcast guest who referred to Taylor Swift as his 'wife' on the 1 April episode of New Heights, prompting speculation among fans that the couple may have already married.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was speaking with University of Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Jerrod Calhoun and actor Jon Hamm on the podcast he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce. During an exchange about college basketball, Kelce, 36, joked he had 'one semester left of eligibility' for the league. Calhoun offered him a Name, Image and Likeness deal before adding: 'You gotta ask your wife,' E! News reported.

Kelce did not push back. He responded as though speaking to Swift: 'Sweetie, I'm going back to school.'

The couple announced their engagement on 26 August 2025. They have not publicly confirmed a wedding.

Fans Divided Over Kelce's 'Wife' Remark on Social Media

The clip spread across X, formerly Twitter, within hours.

'Boy didn't even flinch when he called Taylor his wife,' one user wrote. The Taylor Swift Updates account went further, posting: 'The wedding happened? Travis Kelce seemingly confirmed on New Heights that he's now married to Taylor Swift,' Heavy reported.

Other users were sceptical. One pointed out that Kelce was not wearing a wedding ring. 'They are not married,' the user wrote, adding the wedding is 'probably not far off' but had not taken place. Another dismissed the speculation outright, calling the fan account 'the worst update account in the history of update accounts.'

Calhoun, a Chiefs fan from Ohio, was on the podcast to discuss his basketball programme and his ties to the Kansas City franchise.

Wedding Reports Point to June Date for Swift and Kelce

Swift, 36, and Kelce have been engaged since August 2025, when the tight end proposed in a garden at his home. His father, Ed Kelce, told CNN affiliate WEWS at the time that the proposal took place roughly two weeks before the couple's joint Instagram announcement. Their post, captioned 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,' received more than 37 million likes.

The engagement ring, an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, has been valued at between $550,000 (£440,000) and $1 million (£800,000).

Us Weekly reported this week that the wedding is planned for 13 June at Swift's $18 million (£14.4 million) Rhode Island estate, with events also expected at the five-star Ocean House resort nearby. The reported guest list includes Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed those details. A source told the outlet the couple is 'focused on actually enjoying the process rather than getting caught up in the pressure.'

The pair last appeared together publicly at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards on 26 March, their first joint appearance at an awards show. Swift won seven awards including Pop Album of the Year for The Life of a Showgirl. She referred to Kelce as her 'fiancé' during her acceptance speech.

Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, confirmed on 10 March on The Pat McAfee Show that he will return for a 14th NFL season after the Chiefs' 6-11 record in 2025. It was the franchise's first time missing the playoffs since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback.

Neither has confirmed a wedding has taken place.
