Two 14-year-olds have been charged on Sunday (17 April) with the double murder of a mother and her daughter in Spalding, Lincolnshire. The bodies of the victims were found at a house on Dawson Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Lincolnshire Police said it is not in a position to formally identify the victims. However, the victims are believed to be 49-year-old Elizabeth Edwards and Katie, her 13-year-old daughter. The two 14-year-olds will appear before Lincoln Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 April.

DCI Martin Holvey, who is leading the enquiry, said: "Post-mortem examinations will be carried out in due course but again I still need to speak to anyone with any information that might be relevant from Dawson Avenue from around noon on Wednesday (13 April) to noon on Friday (15 April). If you saw or heard anything that you thought was suspicious or unusual I'd encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible. Please call the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 163 of 15/04/2016 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Our officers will continue to carry out enquiries in the locality and local uniformed officers will also be in the area. If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to talk to them."

Superintendent Paul Timmins previously said that the events had generated "a great deal of local concern and upset".

"I would like to make clear that this type of crime is extremely rare and not something we often see. Indeed, we believe this is a completely isolated incident. There is still a lot of police activity in the area and extra officers in the neighbourhood and I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to please talk to our officers."
