Grey's Anatomy season 12 is returning with the midseason premiere and the episode will bring some shocking twists and fans will not like it. The promo and the synopsis revealed that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is in danger.
The episode titled The Sound Of Silence will focus on her terrible ordeal with a patient and how the staff at Grey Sloan will be by her side to stabilise her. Show creator Shonda Rhimes, meanwhile, has said that the midseason premiere episode is "very powerful" as it is directed by Oscar winner Denzel Washington.
"We've been having a blast. The first episode that comes back is extraordinary and very, very powerful, and directed by Denzel Washington. It certainly puts us on a path for the beginning of the second half of the season," she told EW.
Pompeo has said that the upcoming episode is the "best thing I've ever done on the show."
In an interview with EW, she also expressed her excitement to work with Washington. "His charisma, he changes the energy in the room completely. Everybody is just at the top of their game. We don't get a lot of actors of his caliber — there's no actor of his caliber really; he's in a league all of his own, for sure — who are going to come in and bring his energy to it. The fact that he's not coming from TV, the fact that he's coming from film, he has such a level of intelligence with his storytelling, and the way he sees the story to tell it."
This is not the first time Meredith has suffered serious danger in the popular medical drama by ABC. She has previously come face-to-face with death by drowning, has been in a plane crash and even faced a shooter who invaded the hospital.
Here is the synopsis of the upcoming episode: Meredith is brutally attacked by a patient, and Penny is the one who discovers her. The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial rush to stabilize Meredith and remain by her side in the harrowing aftermath.
Grey's Anatomy season 12 episode 9 will air on 11 February on ABC.
