DC Comics' newest animated superhero series Vixen premieres on 25 August on CW Seed. After Arrow, The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow, Vixen will be the fourth superhero series to join The CW lineup.

Vixen is based on the DC Comics character Mari McCabe aka Vixen, a superhero crime-fighter with the power to mimic the abilities of any animal that has ever lived on Earth. It is set in the same fictional universe as that of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

According to The CW, "Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe's parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her."

Inheriting her family's Tantu Totem, Mari then gets access to the powers of animals – anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah, as she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim previously told Comic Book Resources, "It's a six-part origin story, but characters from The Flash and Arrow are prominently involved. It's in the continuity and the world."

Guggenheim also previews the Vixen premiere in a new video. He says, "Vixen premieres within the Arrow and Flash universe."

"This is a lot of fun for us because we are actually doing something that we have never done before. We are essentially creating a 4th show alongside Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, that is going to be animated," the producer teased.
