Who is Ella Langley? Country Artist Tops Charts Twice, Breaking Record Held By Taylor Swift And Beyoncé
Ella Langley topped the Billboard charts with Choosin' Texas and Be Her while breaking records set by Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.

At just 26 years old, American country singer‐songwriter Ella Langley has rewritten a piece of music history by holding the No 1 and No 2 spots on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart simultaneously for a second consecutive week. It's a rare feat previously achieved only by Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
Billboard data, as shared by Forbes, shows her singles Choosin' Texas and Be Her occupying the top two positions. This makes Langley the first woman in country music to repeat this accomplishment.
The news caps a meteoric rise from small‑town beginnings to the upper echelons of the US music scene. Her breakout single You Look Like You Love Me, a duet with Riley Green, was one of her early hits and helped elevate her profile mainsteam before her more recent chart dominance.
From Alabama Farm to Country Stardom
Born Elizabeth Camille Langley on 3 May 1999 in Hope Hull, Alabama, she grew up in a rural setting steeped in music.
Her grandfather's impromptu jam sessions inspired her first steps into performance, and she learned guitar at a young age, teaching herself to play after his death.
Langley's early musical influences were wide. She was shaped by classic country artists such as Merle Haggard and modern songwriters like Willie Nelson, as well as rock acts including Pearl Jam and the Grateful Dead. She also cites contemporary stars like Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson as inspirations, blending Southern rock, folk and country into her own songwriting style.
She began releasing music independently in 2017, playing bars and festivals across Alabama before moving to Nashville in 2019 and dropping out of college to pursue her career full‑time.
By 2021 she had signed her first publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville, and her profile continued to grow thanks to social‑media exposure and songwriting sessions in the city's tight‑knit community.
Langley's professional breakthrough came after signing with Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records in 2023.
That year, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut and released her debut EP Excuse the Mess, followed by her full‑length album Hungover in 2024. Tracks like You Look Like You Love Me and Weren't for the Wind from that album quickly became fan favourites, with her duet with Green earning a No 1 on the Country Airplay chart and a CMA Award.
Breaking Records on the Charts
Langley's 2025 release Choosin' Texas has become her signature track.
Co‑written and co‑produced with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and featuring Lambert on backing vocals, the single debuted strongly and eventually reached No 1 on the all‑genre Billboard Hot 100. In doing so, Langley became the first female artist to top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts simultaneously with the same song.
Her follow‑up single Be Her, released in early 2026 ahead of her sophomore album Dandelion, holds the No 2 position, creating the rare chart double that recalls historic moments for women in music. Dandelion is slated for release on 10 April 2026 and has already generated intense industry buzz for its blend of raw storytelling and polished production.
Langley's fast ascent hasn't just been about chart positions.
She's toured with major acts including Morgan Wallen, Riley Green and Cody Johnson, opening stadium shows and selling out headline dates.
The Sound and the Influence
What makes Ella Langley special, according to critics and fans, is how she refreshes traditional country stories with modern sounds. She writes deeply personal songs and gives energetic live performances that feel real and relatable. Her openness about her faith and struggles with mental health, including feelings of self-doubt, has helped fans connect with her on a personal level.
With her Dandelion Tour coming up this spring and summer, Langley's popularity keeps growing. Her successes this year show that she could become one of the most influential country artists of her generation—someone who not only tops the charts but also changes the way people experience country music, like Taylor Swift.
