ACER Iconia Tab A510

The Acer Iconia Tab 510 is the company's first quad-core tablet which is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. The tablet packs a full suite of productivity apps including Polaris Office 3.5, which allows users a better way to read and edit their documents. The feature-packed device delivers faster browsing, enhanced app as well as folder management options. The Asus Transformer Pad 300 has been unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC). The tablet, like its predecessor has an optional mobile keyboard dock, to increase productivity.

Design

The Acer Iconia Tab 510 weighs 680g and has a dimension of 259.1 x 175.3 x 10.2mm. It is available in black and gray.

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 weighs 635g with a dimension of 263 x 180.8 x 9.9mm. Users can choose from a range of colours like blue, red and white.

Display

The Acer Iconia flaunts a capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and it allows multitouch functionality.

In comparison, the Asus tablet comes with an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It supports multitouch functionality (up to ten fingers). The 10.1in screen incorporates Asus Waveshare User Interface (UI) as well as Corning Gorilla glass which prevents scratches and dust. The UI offers quick access to the tablet's software suite to enable easier on-the-move computing.

Processor

The Acer Iconia Tab 510 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset. Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor ensures outstanding performance which includes multitasking, faster web browsing and hardware accelerated flash.

In contrast, the Asus Transformer Pad 300 is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 quad-core processor and Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset. The ULP GeForce GPU offers unprecedented game playability and better responsive user interface.

Camera

The Acer Iconia boasts of a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera as well as it offers video recording of 720p. It provides a 1 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.

The Asus tablet comes with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2 megapixel secondary camera. It allows the users to record video of 1080p.

Operating System

Both, the Acer Iconia 510 Tab and the Asus Transformer Pad 300 run on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). The ICS offers support to resizable widgets, improved text-input and spell checking, multitasking, new lock screen action and rich notifications.

Storage

The Acer tablet comprises of a 32GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. It also contains a microSD card with an additional memory of 32GB.

While, the Asus tablet offers 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot with up to 32GB of space available.

Connectivity

The Acer Iconia Tab 510 features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and a Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR wireless technology.

The Asus tablet comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot. It offers support to Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and EDR.

Battery

The Acer Iconia Tab 510 includes a Li-Ion 9800mAh standard battery.

The Transformer Pad contains a Li-Po (22Wh) standard battery which allows for up to 10 hours of use on a single charge.
