Emma Roberts in Scream Queens
Emma Roberts had hoped to appear in American Horror Story: Hotel, but schedules haven't necessarily allowed it Fox

With only five more episodes of American Horror Story: Hotel left to air in the US, followers of the spooky anthology series are wondering whether former star Emma Roberts will return at some point. While she was not a member of the growing cast during the first and second seasons, Roberts appeared in Coven and Freakshow but struggled to find the time to feature in Hotel as she was busy fronting AHS creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's other show, black comedy Scream Queens.

The 24-year-old had previously spoken about the prospect of appearing in the current series, suggesting Murphy would find a role for her after she wrapped production on Scream Queens but it appears as if the pair's schedules never made such available time.

"I'm sad about it. We tried to make it work," she recently revealed in an interview with Yahoo. "But I'm leaving town to go do a movie and they're shooting the last two episodes right now, so Ryan and I said next season we'll do something amazing and devilish.

"I love this season, I watch most of it with my eyes closed, but I think I get the gist. I love Lady Gaga so much, so I was like, "Next season I want to work with Lady Gaga for sure."

The final two episodes of Scream Queens will screen in a double bill on 8 December on Fox. The show centres on a university sorority house that is terrorised by a killer known as The Red Devil, due to his [or her] costumed appearance. The identity of the character is yet to be revealed but Roberts promises questions will definitely be answered in the finale.

"The Red Devil will be revealed and it's pretty shocking," she continued. "I can tell you it could very well be Chanel, I'll tell you that. Every week the show kept us guessing, we would get scripts and we would read them like we were fans because we had no idea what was going on. All of us kind of had our theories; I guessed it right, but that was only after I guessed everybody else but that person, so I don't think that really counts."
